THE sole distributor for Korean slow-juicer brand, Kuvings, is seeking to collaborate with the country’s health advocates and restaurant operators to help the product gain more traction.

Wong Kim Guan, director of Seng Hoe Huat, said the company is not aiming to distribute the product through retail stores and will rather partner with those who “believe in the product”.

“We don’t want to use that (retail) channel because we want the product to be synonymous with the message of a healthy lifestyle,” he told The Brunei Times.

According to the product brochures, the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer preserves more nutrients and minerals from the juicing process due to its slow juicing technology.

“We want to be able to tell customers about the benefits of consuming raw fruit and vegetables which can also be done by the process of juicing,” he said.

Wong said the company is also keen to engage with different businesses, particularly restaurants, to generate more interest from a larger audience.

According to him, the company has sold about 200 units after initially bringing in 500 units in February.

He said that 60 per cent of the buyers comprise of families whose parents are in their mid 30s to 40s with full time jobs.

Most of them want to prepare fruits and vegetables but may not have the time to do so. Wong said the Kuvings juicer is able to give them that convenience as it can process both fruits and vegetables.

He said the company was also surprised at the response of customers, many of whom have heard of the Kuvings brand but have not yet tried it.

“As soon as we started posting on social media, there were a lot of enquiries on the product although not many have actually seen the juicer’s abilities,” Wong said.

He said consumers can also use Kuvings to make sorbet.

Wong said Kuvings features make it a premium product, hence it’s more expensive than most juicers in the market.

“The price is justified in the quality of the product, its abilities and the fact that we offer product maintenance for our customers,” he said.
