A MAN and a woman charged with drug trafficking were released on $30,000 bail.

Defence Counsel Ahmad Zakaria secured the release of Mohd Johari Ahmad @ Chen Lian Hoo and Noraini Abdullah @ Noraini Kaling, both 37, who are facing the joint charge of possession of Class A drugs for trafficking.

The court document stated that the defendants are accused of possession of 91.59 grammes of methamphetamine and possession of 30.38 grammes of ecstasy on February 14 at the Barek Lorong 3 Seria, Belait. The latter charge carries the death penalty. The bail application hearing was heard before Justice Dato Paduka Steven Chong at the High Court yesterday.
