Indonesia confers award on RBAF chief

INDONESIA has conferred its highest military award on the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) commander, Brunei’s Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih Abdullah was awarded the Grand Meritorious Military Order (First Class) at an investiture ceremony held at the Indonesian Defence Headquarters in Jakarta.
Presenting the award to the RBAF commander was Commander in Chief of the Indonesian National Defence (TNI) General TNI Dato Paduka Seri Dr Moeldoko.
The award was presented in recognition of the RBAF commander’s contribution in fostering excellent ties between RBAF and TNI.
The statement added the bilateral relations between the two armed forces had grown under Pehin Major General Dato Mohd Tawih’s leadership.
The RBAF commander was in Indonesia from June 16 to 18 and had earlier called on the TNI’s commander in chief prior to the investiture ceremony.
