A DEFENCE counsel will be making a bail application before the High Court for a duo accused of drug trafficking.

The defendants, Mohd Johari Ahmad @ Chen Lian Hoo, 37, and Noraini Abdullah @ Noraini Kaling, 37, are facing a joint charge of possession of Class A drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The court document stated that on February 14, at the Barek Lorong 3 Seria, Kuala Belait, the defendants are accused of possession of 91.59 grammes of methamphetamine and 30.38 grammes of MDMA, also known as Ecstasy.

During the proceedings yesterday, presiding magistrate Hjh Ervy Sufitriana Hj Abd Rahman said that the bail application will be heard before Justice Dato Paduka Steven Chong on June 20.

In the meantime, both defendants were ordered to be further remanded pending the court session on Saturday.
