BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
FOUR top graduates from the Insitute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) are eyeing future careers in the oil and gas sector.
Ahmad Asyraf Abd Aziz (ISQ in Marker/Fitter), Noraqilah Mohd Azaman (ISQ in Scaffolder), Mohammad Nadzirun Hj Abdul Halik (ISQ in Welder) and Ahmad Zulmuazzam Tarip (ISQ in Rigger) were awarded for their excellence in academic and involvement in co-curriculum activities yesterday.
Three of the best students are engaged to work under Shahid Sdn Bhd, a local service provider for the oil and gas sector.
Ahmad Zulmuazzam Tarip, who graduated in ISQ in Rigger, has been offered a position in the company as a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) officer.
He lauded the programme’s work attachment by providing him with the experience that he needed for his work. He said he will be pursuing a career in the Health, Safety and Environment field.
Another graduate, Mohammad Nadzirun Hj Abdul Halik, said his future plan was to make his family happy and create a better life for his family.
Graduated in ISQ in Welder, Mohammad Nadzirun said his interest in welding developed over time throughout the programme and had worked hard to achieve his target.
The same sentiment was shared by 23-year-old Ahmad Asyraf Abd Aziz who graduated in ISQ in Marker/Fitter.
He said he was offered a conditional offer of employment at Shahid Sdn Bhd, and he will be working in the field that is related to his programme.
Meanwhile, Noraqilah Mohd Azaman was the only female graduate awarded as best student at the convocation.
The 26-year-old graduated in ISQ in Scaffolder and hopes to pursue her studies to become an instructor in the scaffolding field.
According to Noraqilah, scaffolder is a challenging field for women.
“We must set our mind to succeed in this field. Do not think that women cannot do it. Be strong and take up any challenges that goes through your way, InsyaAllah everything will be successful,” she said.
The graduates received their certificates in a convocation ceremony at the International Convention Centre.
