Oilfield Police Security Officers complete course on Browning MK III pistol
A HUNDRED and six Brunei LNG Oilfield Police Security Officers (OPSO) recently completed a course on handling the new Browning MK III pistol.
The OPSO personnel, who received their certificates of completion yesterday at the Royal Brunei Police Force’s (RBPF) Belait Headquarters in Panaga, underwent the course in four phases at the police training centre in Gadong and shooting range in Muara.
“The course is aimed at increasing the quality and capability of our personnel in using the Browning pistol,” said Acting District Commanding Officer of Belait Supt Mohd Hadini Hj Othman during the presentation ceremony at RBPF’s Belait Headquarters.
“The course touches comprehensively on all features of the pistol, from safety to firing,” he said.
The RBPF’s Special Operations Squad carried out the training of the Browning MK III, which replaces an older pistol made by Smith and Wesson.
The Browning MK III has a cast steel frame, with a magazine capacity of 10 for 9mm Luger bullets.
