RBN golden jubilee celebrated with colours

ROYAL Brunei Navy (RBN) personnel were reminded to continue striving forward to further raise the entire performance and image of the institution in coming together to meet the challenges of the changing times.

Commander of RBN First Admiral Pg Norazmi Pg Hj Muhammad reiterated His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah yesterday during RBN’s Golden Jubilee Celebration.

“This befits the moto ‘Loyalty, Commitment, Courage and Professionalism’. I urge all of us to follow His Majesty’s titah in order to improve our self-esteem and increase the level of professionalism as well as to avoid unhealthy social problems particularly drug abuse and corruption which can destroy the institution and the country.”

The Commander also announced that as of yesterday the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) will start to utilise the admiralty rank and insignia throughout the institution to align its relevance with all other navies.

The event started with a parade programme with the accorded General Salute for the Commander of RBN’s arrival, First Admiral Pg Norazmi Pg Hj Muhammad.

This was then followed by the naval tradition of conducting Colours, and the inspection of the guard of honour.

RBN in the statement said that the parade contingent comprised of 214 personnel from the Base, Fleet, Logistic, Training and RBN Band led by Lieutenant Commander Mohd Faizal Ezam Hj Abas, RBN.

This was then followed by a cake cutting ceremony by the Commander of RBN to commemorate the Golden Jubilee.

The event then saw Commanding Officer, badges and certificates, Coxswain certificates presented to officers who have demonstrated outstanding work performance and commitment to the Royal Brunei Navy as a whole.

Commanding Officer (CO) certificates were awarded to three Commanders, three Lieutenant Commanders and one Lieutenant.

The Commanding Officer (CO) certificates were also awarded to one Commander, and two Lieutenant Commanders who are currently abroad.

The Command Badge was also presented to three Lieutenants where two of the officers are currently abroad.

A Coxswain certificate was also presented to Chief Petty officer Hj Azmain Hj Awang, RBN Coxswain KDB Puni.

The “Golden Anchor Award” was awarded to Warrant Officer 2 Abu Hassan Ahim, RBN Coxswain KDB Darussalam.

The “Bintang Harapan Award” was awarded to Leading Hand Arwdi Jumat, RBN Warfare Mechanic KDB Darussalam.

The event concluded with a group photo depicting the number “50” comprising of approximately 400 RBN personnel.

Present during the event was Commander Hj Othman Hj Suhaili @ Suhaily, RBN Deputy Commander of RBN, Commander Pg Mohammad Pg Hj Damit, RBN Fleet Commander RBN, senior officers from the Ministry of Defence, senior officers, officers, enlisted personnel of RBN, and in-service officers serving outside of the RBN.
