Muara villagers donate money to 5 orphans

FIVE orphans in Muara town received $355 each in donation from villagers for the upcoming Ramadhan.

Masjid Setia Ali Imam Pg Hj Rusman said the mosque collected $1,775 from congregants and people at Muara Town as well as neighbouring villages. The mosque collected $1,920 last year.

Pg Hj Rusman, who is also a member of the Takmir committee, added that the annual donation event hoped to provide orphans with the funds to purchase baju cara Melayu (traditional Malay attire) for Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.

The recipients were aged from three to 16, he said.

There were fewer number of orphans receiving the donations compared to last year, as many orphans moved out to new homes at Meragang National Housing Schemes, said the imam.

Present as guest of honour at the ceremony was Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer Misli Hj Karim, who also took part in the tahlil and doa arwah ceremonies.
