SIXTY-NINE members of the Mosque Muslimah Committee in Brunei-Muara district participated in the opening ceremony of the 69 Times Khatam Al-Quran at Masjid Sultan Sharif Ali Sengkurong yesterday.

The religious event was organised by the Masjid Sultan Sharif Ali’s Mosque Muslimah Committee in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 69th birthday celebration.

Leading the recital of the Al-Quran was the head of the Mosque Muslimah Committee, Pehin Menteri Bini Datin Paduka Hjh Aminah Hj Md Yassin.

Participants of the Quran recital were from eight Mosque Muslimah Committee groups: Masjid Al-Ameerah Al Hajjah Maryam Jerudong, Masjid Kampong Masin, Masjid Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddin Kg Katimahar, Balai Ibadat Kg Mata-Mata, Masjid Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin, Masjid Kg Pengkalan Batu, Masjid Pengiran Muda Abdul Mateen Mulaut and Masjid Sultan Sharif Ali.

One of the committee members, Hjh Halimah Abdullah, told The Brunei Times that the event was also aimed to strengthen relationship between the Muslimah Committee groups

It was also aimed to educate the Muslimah with Islamic knowledge and enhance and refine their Quran reciting skills, she added.
