POLICE have apprehended a 26-year-old man suspected of injuring three people, including a child, with a knife at Belait’s Kg Pandan yesterday afternoon.

In a statement, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said the child was the most seriously injured of the three, having his neck slashed while playing at the Kg Pandan Community Hall. The boy is currently in a stable condition after undergoing surgery at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital.

Police said the suspect “suddenly appeared” and attacked the child, whose father was playing sepak takraw inside the hall.

Members of the public gave chase to the suspect, who still managed to injure another 27-year-old in the neck while fleeing.

The suspect then ran to a nearby futsal field and injured his final victim, a male aged between 15 and 16 on the thigh, before racing back to his house.

The other two victims were also treated at the hospital, and were later discharged on the same day.
