A HUNDRED staff of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board cleaned up the Gerai Seri Selera, Seria and its surrounding compound yesterday morning.

Acting Chairman of the Municipal Board of Kuala Belait and Seria Sarih Tabong lead the cleaning campaign, which also involved stall owners at the market who joined in the collective effort.

Aside from collecting rubbish, the board's staff also scrubbed the floors and cleaned out the drains, which were later sprayed with pesticide by the Department of Health to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

Yesterday's event was a follow-up to another campaign held two weeks ago by the board in Kuala Belait, where Pasarneka Kuala Belait and Pasar Lama were cleaned.

According to a statement issued by the board, cleaning campaigns were part of the organisation's annual plan, to be carried out throughout the year to ensure areas under their jurisdiction maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene.
