Guide family with Al-Quran, Sunnah

A FAMILY guided by the teachings of Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah (practices, customs and traditions of Rasulullah SAW) will create a faithful and devoted family and create children who have faith and morals.

This will in turn create a society that will be blessed by Allah SWT, said the Acting Director of Social Services, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in his capacity as the chairman of the special gathering in conjunction with the Fourth National Family Day yesterday.

Some 300 people attended the special gathering that took place at the Hassanal Bolkiah Indoor Stadium in Berakas.

Mohd Hussaini Abdullah, in his speech said the event was a side event to celebrate National Family Day this year even to increase the community’s understanding about the importance of family life which is based on Islam.

Organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the event featured a talk from Malaysian speaker, Ustaz Don Daniyal Don Biyajid.

The event was attended by Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman; Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah and other senior government officers.

In his talk, Ustaz Don Daniyal said “As Islam teaches us how to be parents who possess faith, we must also teach our children the teachings of Islam. Islam, or the teachings of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah to be exact, did not only teach us how to be good children or parents, but it teaches us how to be children and parents who are soleh (pious) and with moral values”.

Yesterday, the speaker presented talks in two venues. The second talk was held at 8pm, at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.

Today (June 9), Ustaz Don Daniyal will present two talks in Belait and Tutong district. Members of the public are welcomed to attend the talk.

The speaker will first present a talk in Pusat Insani in Belait at 8am, and then another talk at the Tutong Community Hall at 1.45pm.

On Wednesday (June 10), he will be delivering a talk at the Temburong Community Hall at 8am.

The National Family Day 2015 aimed at strengthening and improving the well-being of families through programmes aimed at building quality community and increase understanding of the importance of religion in the lives of families and individuals as well as to foster public understanding on the importance of the family institution in the development of community which comprise families who are harmonious, strong and resilient.
