Kg Pelambayan holds charity sale

THE Kg Pelambayan Village Consultative Council held its sixth annual charity sale yesterday.
All proceeds from the charity sale will go to the village’s orphans as well as the village consultative council’s social and cultural activities.
Speaking with The Brunei Times, the village chief of Kg Pelambayan, Hj Hanipah Begawan Pehin Udana Khatib Hj Junit, said that the two-day event is aimed at promoting the community activities and gaining additional income for its villages.
“This is our sixth charity sale, and over the years the responses had been encouraging. We expect more visitors to come this year,” he added.
The charity sale features 10 booths selling various local cakes and food produced by residents of Kg Pelambayan.
The sale also saw participation of members of the Kg Sungai Bunga Village Consultative Council who took the opportunity to showcase their seafood products.
Several activities were also set up to enliven the festivities such as fishing and crab competition as week as lucky draw.
Present to launch the charity sale yesterday was the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer, Misle Hj Abd Karim.
During the sale, the Acting District Officer also launched a new pathway bridge at the village, which was constructed by the Brunei-Muara District Office for recreational purposes.
The new pathway bridge, the first of its kind built by the government, was used yesterday as a venue for a fishing competition.
The bridge is named ‘Limbai 1’ after the original name of Kg Pelambayan.
The event continues today with a charity walkathon. The Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Hj Idris Hj Md Ali, is expected to attend.
