KUPU SB programme to instil sense of belonging

SOME 119 people attended the “Ukhuwah Islamiyyah Camping Programme” at the Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Sungai Akar yesterday.

The theme of the event was “Ukhuwah Menjana Konsep Al-Ta’awun Ala albirri wa al-taqwa” which focuses on the cooperation to further righteousness.

Some of the objectives of the programme includes strengthening ties among Muslim youths and villagers.

The annual camping programme was also launched to uphold and fulfil the titah of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during the opening ceremony of the 2011 Knowledge Convention.

In his titah, His Majesty called for all relevant agencies to educate the public through mosques in villages across the state.

Moreover, the programme hopes to instil a sense of togetherness among its participants towards the society they are part of.

Participants comprised first and second year students from the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) majoring in Usuluddin.

They were also joined by 15 volunteers as well as members of students’ council from KUPU SB.

However, during the camping programme, only male participants are allowed to stay overnight at the mosque.

Participants took part in Islamic activities such as Khatam Al-Quran (completion of Al-Quran recitation) as well as performing community service such as cleaning the mosque.

The camping programme began yesterday and will end on Sunday, May 31.

Attending the ceremony as the guest of honour was the Dean Faculty of Usuluddin in KUPU SB,Professor Madya Dr Ariffin Omar. It began after the mass Friday prayer.
