A NIGHT charity run will be held this June 12 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium to help raise funds for victims of the Nepal earthquake.

Registration for the 5-kilometre run will be open starting today on the Heroes Event Management’s website for a fee of $25, which includes a ‘Run for Nepal’ t-shirt and wrist band. A donation card will also be provided for those willing to further support fundraising efforts.

Founder of Heroes Event Management Aaron Goh told _The Brunei Times _yesterday that he first had the idea of organising a run for Nepal after meeting the Manager of the Gurkha Palace Restaurant James Shakya at Fitness Zone, who were partnering with the eatery to collect relief supplies to send to victims last month.

“Even with a short time frame to prepare for the charity run, I still believe the solidarity and support of the Bruneian public on June 12 will make a huge difference in raising funds for Nepal,” said Aaron, who revealed that the race would take place between 8.15pm to 10.15pm.

He explained that half of money generated from registration fees would be donated to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ (MCYS) Nepal Earthquake Humanitarian Fund, while the remaining half will go to covering air freight costs needed to send relief supplies collected by the Gurkha Palace Restaurant under Seri Belalong Sdn Bhd.

Registration will be open from May 29 to June 5, will be limited to 1,500 participants. To register, visit www.heroes.com.bn/runfornepal. Those looking to sponsor can contact Weareheroesbrunei@gmail.com.

The Nepal Humanitarian Fund, which will be open until July 31, has collected over $47,000 as of May 27.
