PRAYER is the highest form of worship and has many benefits, said State Mufti Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz Juned yesterday.

Delivering his welcoming remarks during the prayer workshop themed “Sembahyang Penyelamat Kita”, the State Mufti said that if prayers are performed correctly, then all other forms of _ibadat _will also be correct.

“When praying, you have to give your all because during the Hereafter, prayers are the first thing that you will be judged on before other forms of ibadat.

“It doesn’t mean that the other forms of ibadat are less important and obligatory. _InsyaAllah _those that perform their prayers correctly, the other forms of ibadat will follow.”

State Mufti YB Pehin Dato (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awg Abd Aziz Juned added that those who pray and walk to mosques are also rewarded with hasanah (good deeds), darjat (position) and their sins will fall away.

“The theme of this workshop ‘Sembahyang Penyelamat Kita‘ is true. However prayer not only saves you but it makes you wealthy, has many benefits, joy and comfort (nikmat), blessings (rahmat) and you obtain forgiveness from Allah SAW.”

He also reminded the participants of the workshop on the obligation to perform ablution (wudhu) before prayers as praying without performing ablution is haram.

More than 60 officers from the State Mufti’s office, mosque youth and new converts attended the four-day workshop held at the Surau of the State Mufti’s office.
