MORE than 100 personnel under the Ministry of Communications (MinComm) and its departments gathered to celebrate Isra’ Mikraj at the Amar Pahlawan Hall, Ministry of Communications yesterday.

Gracing the event as the guest of honour was Minister of Communications Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

The event, themed “Prayer is Our Savior”, included a special lecture about Isra’ Mikraj delivered by an officer from the Islamic Da’wah Centre, Hj Mail Hj Besar.

The speaker emphasised the importance of prayer for Muslims in relation to Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) sacrifices in persuading Allah (SWT) to reduce the prayer time from 50 to five times daily.

Hj Mail also spoke on the importance of prayer at night.

“Most of the great stories in Islam happened at night. Hence, Muslims are urged to wake up after midnight for few hours and pray as it the best time for us to ask Allah (SWT) for forgiveness,” he said.

“Islam sees night time as the first thing to come before day light and not the other way around. We encounter night time before the sunrise,” he added.

“These hours are suitable moments for Istigfar (a form of worship used to seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT) as well as salawat (prayers for peace) as it is a daily starting point in Islam,” said Hj Mail.

Besides sharing religious information on Isra’ Mikraj, the event also aimed to strengthen relationship between personnel under the Ministry.
