MEDIA should be responsible in disseminating accurate information to the public because of its crucial role in influencing and shaping the way we understand our social and political life.

The Minister of Home Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman said this during the launching of a coffee table book to mark the 20th year of the Media Permata establishment in the Sultanate yesterday.

The minister reminded media to incorporate Brunei’s values (Malay Muslim Monarchy) with international standard into their news reporting.

“We, people living in this country, have accepted and are aware of the social and political way of life here,” he said, adding that media should be aware of the acceptable political and social system in this country.

The book has 137 pages and the hardcopy is on sale for $50 in local book stores, according to the Ministry’s information.

The book will feature the monarch and the people; the Royal Wedding; Development and Economy; Education and Human Resources.

The launching ceremony took place at the Millennium Restaurant in Gadong.
