Driver sustains heavy injuries in Tutong crash

A MALE driver sustained major injuries yesterday when his vehicle struck into a large truck after an early morning collision in Tutong Highway.
The 32- year-old man was immediately taken to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital following the horrific accident, where he underwent surgery.
According to the Tutong Police Station, a distress call was reported at 6.05 am about an accident involving a Mazda 323 and a truck at a U-turn opposite the Lubok Pulau, Tutong fuel station.
The 32-year-old male driver of the Mazda vehicle sustained injuries to his face, chest, hip and legs, while the 46-year-old foreign driver of the large truck escaped the crash unhurt.
As of press time, driver of the Mazda vehicle is currently admitted at RIPAS Hospital for treatment.
However, the cause of the collision has yet to be ascertained as the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) is currently investigating the accident. RBPF advised drivers to exercise caution while travelling and to abide by road traffic rules to prevent accidents. They were also reminded to use the headlights on their vehicles and to be on alert when driving in adverse weather conditions.
