New housing units at Berakas Garrison ready for occupancy

KEYS for the two new blocks of ‘F’ Flats at Berakas Garrison were officially handed over in a ceremony held at the project site yesterday.

The event saw the presentation of a mock key by the guest of honour Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) at the Ministry of Defence Abu Sufian Hj Ali to Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force Colonel Hj Muhd Haszaimi Bol Hassan.

Also present were the director of Development and Work Services, senior military staff, staff of Directorate of Development and Work Services, team of project consultants and the contractors.

According to the Ministry of Defence website, the facility was the first medium-rise vertical housing project undertaken by the Directorate of Development and Work Services with 56 housing units for the military personnel.

The two eight-storey tower blocks have a total of 56 residential units.

Each housing unit, which has a floor area of 162 square metres, is comprised of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living room, dining hall, kitchen, laundry room as well as a maid’s room and storage. Each tower block also has a prayer room and ample parking space for the occupants and visitors.

Costing around $11 million, the construction of the new blocks was completed in early January by the Contractor WLW Developer & Trading Company Sdn Bhd.

The Consultants engaged for this project are Abdul Ghani Arkitek as the Architectural Consultant, HAHD Engineering as the Civil & Structural Consultant, Regional Consultants as the M&E Consultant and HZ Associates as the Quantity Surveyor.
