Top students from Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Secondary School receive certificates
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
A TOTAL of 167 top students from Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Secondary School (SMALHB) received their certificates at a ceremony held at the Royal Brunei Recreational Club (RBRC) yesterday.
Out of the number, 138 students received their Higher Brunei Religious Studies Certificate (STPUB), 14 students received their STPUB and GCE O-Level certificates while another 15 students received their GCE A-Level certificates.
Presenting the certificates to the recipients yesterday was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Hj Mohd ‘Abdoh Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Salam.
Acting Principle of SMALHB, Ustazah Hjh Norjainah Hj Buntar, in her speech advised the students to utilise and always seek knowledge because the students will be the ones disseminating the Islamic ‘Da’wah’ in the country.
“Knowledge can fend off anti-Muslim propaganda that is always looking for opportunities to infiltrate the teachings of Islam and thus mislead Muslims,” she said.
“(This is) especially (true) with a wide array of information technology nowadays such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter,” she added.
Hjh Norjainah also said that students must maintain good values wherever they are.
A good value system is one that is obedient to Allah SWT, Prophet Muhammad SAW, Ulil Amri (rulers) and their parents, she explained.
“InsyaAllah, by keeping the values, the students will always be kept safe by Allah SWT in this world and the Hereafter.
“Should the students pursue their studies overseas, hold on to this system of values,” she said.
