THE Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) held its annual blood campaign programme at the ministry’s building yesterday.

The event, which was organised by the ministry’s National Standard Centre, aimed to help ensure adequate blood supplies at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Blood Bank.

According to a press release issued by the ministry yesterday, the campaign saw the participation of officers and staff of the ministry and all departments under it.

A pamphlet distributed by the RIPAS Blood Donation Centre explained that donating blood reduces excess iron in the body which in turn decreases risks of heart attack by one third.

Other benefits include regeneration of new blood cells.
