A SMALL portion of cement ceiling in front of a shophouse in Kuala Belait collapsed yesterday.

No one was injured in the incident, which took place around 12pm, according to a shopkeeper in the area.

A sign has now been placed below the damaged ceiling to prevent any potential accidents and to warn those passing by.

A customer who was having a meal in a nearby restaurant at the time said she heard a loud noise, which turned out to be pieces of cement dislodging and falling to the floor.

The shopkeeper, who asked not be named, said that building maintenance would arrive today to fix the cracked ceiling.
