THE Family Day celebration continued in the country yesterday with a morning activity organised by the Ministry of Communications (MinComm) and all of its departments.

Present as the event’s guest of honour to launch the event held at the Bio Innovation Corridor (BIC) in Kg Tungku was the Minister of Communications Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

The event began with an aerobic session, followed by a bike riding event, where participants took part in the 5-kilometre bike ride through the BIC compound.

The programme also included a 3-kilometre walkathon and other fun games participated by the officers and staff and their family members.

The National Family Day is celebrated every first Sunday of May in the Sultanate. This year’s National Family Day celebration retains the theme ‘My Family, My Hope.’

Among other departments under the ministry include the Meteorological Department, Land Transport Department, the Department of Civil Aviation, the Department of Ports, Postal Services Department and the Marine Department.

Also in attendance was the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Abdul Mutalib Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yusof and the ministry’s Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary Hj Abdul Karim Hj Abdul Wahab. – Sally Piri
