New $1.9 million Religious Affairs Dept building in Temburong to open soon

THE new $1.9 million Religious Affairs Department building in Temburong is expected to begin operations in the next two months, said the minister of religious affairs.
Speaking on the sidelines of his Temburong visit last Saturday, Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman said the ministry is putting on the final touches such as fitting of furniture before it can start operating.
He expressed satisfaction with the construction of the two-storey building, which sits atop a two-acre site adjacent to the existing Religious Affairs Department building.
The new building will house several sections under the Religious Affairs Department, namely the Administration Section; Mosque Affairs Section; Islamic Studies Section; Religious Enforcement Section; Aqidah Control Section; Family Advice Services Section; Halal Food Control Section; Zakat Section; and the Publication and Control Section.
The minister said the old building would continue to be used for future religious programmes and to accommodate other services and activities for the public. Syarikat Amalan Pg Sabariah was appointed as the main contractor of the project.
