Mukim Bangar swears in new Penghulu

HJ ABDUL Rahman Merusin recited a pledge and signed a contract to officially take over the duties of Penghulu for Mukim Bangar, Temburong, yesterday.
The 64-year-old was appointed as the new Penghulu for Mukim Bangar, effectively on March 2.
He was officially sworn in yesterday in front of Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awang Halbi Hj Mohd Yussof and Temburong District Officer, Hj Abdul Hamid Dato Paduka Hj Abdullah.
Hj Abdul Rahman replaced Hj Hamdan Hj Besar, who served as Penghulu for Mukim Bangar from October 2004 to March 2015.
The new penghulu was a teacher until 1995. He then served as a school inspectorate for the Ministry of Education from 1996 to 2006.
Under his new position, Hj Abdul Rahman would be in charge of Mukim Bangar.
The mukim (sub-district) measures 113 square kilometres and has a total population of 2,558 people.
Mukim Bangar has 19 villages and there are four village chiefs under Mukim Bangar – Kg Menengah, Kg Batang Tuau, Kg Puni and Ujung Jalan, and Kg Belingos.
