KDB Daruttaqwa sails for Singapore

THE KDB Daruttaqwa set sail for Singapore on Wednesday to participate in the upcoming Western Pacific Naval Symposium Multilateral Sea Exercise (WMSX).

Led by its commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel (L) Khairil Hj Abdul Rahman along with 64 crew members, the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) patrol vessel will join 20 warships and submarines from 13 foreign navies in the exercise.

The WMSX will involve drills such as exercise planning and discussion, shore boarding, maritime interdiction operation as well as search and seizure.

A farewell ceremony was held at the Muara Naval Base prior to KDB Daruttaqwa’s deployment, where colleagues and families including RBN Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel (L) Hj Othman Hj Suhaili @ Suhaily bade adieu to the participating personnel.

Also present were defence adviser of Singapore to Brunei, Colonel Lee Yong Heng, and fleet commander Lieutenant Colonel (L) Pg Mohammad Pg Hj Damit.

The WMSX will be conducted in conjunction with the 10th International Maritime Defence Exhibition Asia (IMDEX Asia 2015) from May 19 to 21. RBN’s participation in the exercise aimed to enhance professionalism and strengthen ties with other the naval forces.
