ITB site bags international award

INSTITUT Teknologi Brunei (ITB) bagged bronze for the Best International Website Page category at the Fifth QS-MAPLE (Middle East and North Africa Professional Leaders in Education) Creative Awards held in Doha, Qatar, on May 5.

Associate Professor Dr Hjh Zohrah Hj Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of ITB, received the award for the university.

According to a press statement by ITB, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the King Abdulaziz University received the gold and silver awards respectively.

The other categories were Best International Print Advertisement, Most Creative Corporate Institution Video, Best International Student Recruitment Brochure and Best Exhibition Booth Design.

The awards presentation was held in conjunction with the Fifth QS-MAPLE conference which was held from May 5 to 7 in Doha.

 The conference was organised by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a leading international ranking institution, in partnership with Qatar University.

The awards recognised the importance of creative and compelling designs in effective commu nication and brand building among participating institutions.

A third party specialising in creative design appraised the participants’ entries and innovation to Iensure the most unbiased appraisal by QS Asia.

The QS-MAPLE Conference featured a series of discussions on the opportunities, challenges, and driving forces that have an impact in the development of higher education, as well as plenary and breakout sessions, and squared debates on topics and issues related to the internationalisation of higher education in the Middle East and North African region, as well as the globalisation of Middle Eastern Higher Education.

Associate Professor Dr Hjh Zohrah presented a paper entitled ‘Research from Zero to Hero : A Case for Institut Teknologi Brunei’.

About 300 participants from all over the world attended the conference.
