Institut Tahfiz awards outstanding students

A STUDENT from Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute (ITQSHHB) has been awarded for his outstanding achievement of 13 straight ‘A’s in his examination results as well as his active participation in Al-Quran memorisation competition.

Ahmad Rusydi Hj Md Salleh was announced the best student yesterday during the prize presentation ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

He was awarded in three categories; the 2014 Exemplary Student Award, the Outstanding Award in Public Examination for BGCE ‘O’ Level and Brunei Religious Studies Certificate (SPUB).

Ahmad Rusydi achieved straight A’s s in his ‘O’ Level examinations and 5 A’s in his SPUB’s results.

Meanwhile, over 100 students were awarded for their achievements in their respective fields.

Among the awards include the Imam As-Syatibi Award, Imam Ibnu Al-Jazari Award, Outstanding Academic Award, Outstanding Public Examination Award, Outstanding Public Studies Award, Outstanding Al-Quran Braille Studies Award as well as Excellence in Attendance Award.

Presenting the prizes to the students was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Aziz Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Hj Md Yussof.

In his welcoming prior the prize presentation, the institute’s Acting Headmaster Ustaz Pg Hj Haslin Pg Hj Ali said the event prize presentation ceremony hopes to inspire other students to achieve outstanding performance in their studies as well as memorising the Quran.

He also encouraged the students to show their determination in becoming successful Hafiz (person who has memorised the entire Quran).
