FLOOD victims in Beaufort, Sabah, Malaysia have received more financial aid, following a recent donation of RM 10,600 ($3,923) from the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (BDSA).

BDSA Scout Chief Commissioner Hj Awang Badar Hj Awang Ali handed over the donation to Datuk Dr Zaini Hj Suntim, Deputy Scout Commissioner of the Scouts Association of Malaysia cum Sabah State Chief Scout Commissioner.

The handover took place during the closing ceremony of the Basic Risk Management Workshop organised by the Scouts Association of Malaysia at the Youth Arena in Kota Kinabalu.

According to a press statement, the BDSA delegation to Kota Kinabalu also consisted of International Commissioner Abdul Manan Hj Abdul Latip; Secretary-General Hj Zainuddin Hj Jaafar; Scout Commissioner of Religious Section Hj Othman Durani; Chief Executive Scout Officer Hj Mohd Zali Hj Arsad; and Executive Scout Officer Zainudin Hj Ishak.

Also present to witness the donation handover were their Malaysian counterparts, as well as other workshop participants.

The BDSA set up a two-month humanitarian relief fund for Malaysian flood victims earlier this year, following devastating floods that affected several Malaysian states last December.

Donations to the fund came from BDSA members themselves, as well as their family members.

The BDSA previously handed over donated food and drink items to flood victims in Limbang in January, as well as monetary donations to five different Peninsular Malaysian states in March.
