National Family Day today

BRUNEI will be marking National Family Day with various activities in all four districts today.
Mass Maghrib, Isya’ and Hajat prayers as well as recital of Surah Yassin and special supplications were held for the annual event last night.
The prayers were held at all mosques and suraus nationwide with the main event at Masjid Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit at Kg Manggis-Madang.
Present during the religious ceremony were Minister of Religious Affairs Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pengiran Hj Abd Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awang Othman; and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah.
Held every first Sunday in May, National Family Day will be celebrated for the fourth time since its inception in 2012. The celebration is aimed to strengthen the well-being of families and underscore the roles of family institutions in the country’s development.
It is also held to encourage families to spend quality time together. This year’s National Family Day is themed ‘Family with a Vision’.
In Brunei-Muara district, four venues were identified to celebrate National Family Day, which are Jalan Menteri Besar Recreational Park, Royal Wharf in the capital, Bio-Innovation Corridor in Tungku and Kg Parit Mini Recreational Park.
Meanwhile, Belait will hold events at Liang-Lumut Recreational Club and Padang Bandaran on Jalan Sultan.
Celebrations will take place at Sungai Tutong Recreational Park and Bukit Beruang National Housing Park in Tutong, as well as Bumiputera Complex in Temburong’s Bangar town.
Organisers said the activities that have been lined up included motivational talks, parenting skills workshop, sports, as well as religious activities such as nasyid, tausyeh and dikir competitions.
Mass Subuh prayers will also be held prior to the activities at the venues to seek blessings from Allah SWT for the smooth running of the National Family Day celebration.
Babies born on May 3 will also be presented with gifts.
