LOCAL and international participants of the 16th Borneo Island International Big Bike Festival (BIIBBF) were feted with awards and dinner at yesterday night’s closing festival ceremony at the Star Lodge Hotel in Jerudong.

Present to hand the awards was the guest of honour, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.

The minister presented special awards to key figures who made the BIIBBF a success and plaques to participants from biking associations such as the Sabah Big Bikers Association (Sabah), Borneo Island Big Bikers (Sarawak), Ikatan Motor Besar Indonesia (Pontianak) and the LA Riders Club (Labuan.)

He also presented mementos to representatives of the biking associations and plaques to the sponsors of the BIIBBF.

Earlier, yesterday the Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) went on a “Green Heart of Borneo Ride”, where participant took their bikes to iconic places in the country, including Kampong Ayer, the Royal Wharf, the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque.

The festival was organised by PEMODA in collaboration with the Tourism Department and Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.

This is the fifth time Brunei hosted the festival. -Rafidah Hamit
