Brunei-Muara Muslim converts receive monthly aid
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
FIFTY-SIX convert families in the Brunei-Muara district received the monthly living assistance from the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) in the form of daily necessities and food supplies.
In a ceremony held yesterday, officials explained that the monthly assistance is provided to Muslim converts who are in need.
PDI explained that for registered converts in the Brunei-Muara district, the supplies are distributed through Insha Jawed Sdn Bhd for one year as of yesterday until March next year.
The ceremony also saw one of the recipients receiving an engine generator to provide electricity to his house in Kg Sinarubai, Bengkurong.
When interviewed, recipients expressed their joy and gratitude as the assistance given to them is meaningful in a sense that it helps to lift up a large amount of their burdens to support their families.
In a statement issued yesterday, PDI said that including the 56 families in Brunei-Muara, the total number of families registered for the assistance nationwide amounted to 313.
Registered families in the Tutong district come to 142 families, 73 in Belait and another 42 in Temburong.
Leading the distribution process yesterday was the Acting Director of PDI, Hjh Siti Azizah Hj Musa.
Also present was the Acting Assistant Director, Abd Aziz Hj Abd Kahar.
