UNIVERSITI Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) has established links with Bangladesh’s Daffodil International University (DIU) to pave the way for more exchange programmes.

A press statement from UNISSA said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between both universities to allow academic cooperation and improved student mobility.

UNISSA Rector Dr Hj Norarfan Hj Zainal signed the MoU, while Chairman and Board of Trustees for DIU Md Sabur Khan represented the Bangladesh varsity.

The two universities agreed to foster greater academic ties and enable student mobility programmes in certain fields, including the possibility of expanding to more fields, the statement read.

The Bangladesh university will be offering UNISSA students the opportunity to join its Entrepreneurship Development Programme under its International Student Exchange Programme, said DIU’s chairman and board of trustees.

Students will also have the opportunity to join industry activities for a semester or a two-semester study abroad programme that will be fully funded by DIU, the statement added.

The programme is aimed at nurturing entrepreneurs and not to be dependent on others for jobs.

DIU, located in Dhaka, is accredited as one of Bangladesh’s top universities.

Currently, the institution has established international ties to develop academic, research, cultural and technical programmes. It currently has ties with 57 universities across the world and 24 partner industries.
