FAMILY Day 2015 will be celebrated on May 3, said organisers yesterday.

The celebration, hosted by the Community Development Department (JAPEM) under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports(MCYS), will carry the theme ‘Keluarga Berwawasan’ (Visionary Family) which is in line with this year’s National Day theme.

According to the Acting Director of JAPEM, Hjh Noridah Abdul Hamid, Family Day will have various activities ranging from sports, religious activities and seminars and so on.

Talking on the benefits of Family Day, Hjh Noridah said both parents and children are busy with their own daily routines be it work or studies hence the necessity for having a family oriented event such as Family Day.

“This is a great opportunity for families to spend quality time with each other,” she said.

“Besides outdoor activities we will also hold mass prayer and recitation of tahlil during the opening ceremony of Family Day 2015,” Hjh Noridah added.

To instil a sense of family unity, the MCYS is also planning to held seminar and symposium in parenting skills and also cultural and religious activities for duration of a year from May 2015 until April next year.
