Speaking to The Brunei Times, the chairman of the programme, Abdul Busyra Hj Mat Zain said that the programme was a collaboration between KUPU SB and _Bahagian Pengislaman and Pemeliharaan Mualaf _of the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) in spreading the word of Islam.

“With the collaboration between PDI, we were able to gather quite impressive number of Muslim and Non-Muslim in the event to partake in Islamic activities,” Abdul Busyra said.

The programme was divided into several activities which include refining the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah as well as calligraphy workshop.

The participants were also given a lesson on the topic of purification or cleanliness (Fiqh At Thaharah) which involves the method of Sertu (the cleaning method use when someone touched a dog or swine) for adults and Smart Wudhu (ablution) for children.

During the event, there were 14 non-Muslims who participated in writing and colouring calligraphy. “The non-Muslims were also interested to study the Fiqh At Thaharah’s workshop as well,” he said.

“After we got advice from PDI, we decided to hold the programme in Kg Bebuloh as it is where we could find a significant number of non-Muslim and also Muallaf (people who converted to Islam),” he continued.

He went on to say that the programme was also held to inspire the villagers to work together with one another and strengthen the ties between KUPU SB and people in Kg Bebuloh.

“We hoped that this programme should be held often as it encourages the Muslims to work together with the non-Muslims and from that it could create harmony between all societies in the sultanate.”

Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, the event saw the guest of honor; Assistant Deputy Ra’es Dr Abang Hadzmin Abang Hj Taha handing over donations to villagers as well as the mualaf of Kg Bebuloh.
