Man fined $800 for misappropriating documents

A MAN was imposed an $800 fine yesterday after he pleaded guilty to misappropriating several documents that was left in his car.

The court document submitted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Sharon Yeo states that on June 20, 2008, the defendant Hj Abd Rahim Hj Tuah @ Hj Md Rahim Hj Tuah, 50, had picked up two Vietnamese men at the vicinity of Delima Jaya Complex and dropped them off at the multi-storey car par in the capital.

After he dropped off the men, he discovered that one of them had left a passport, an identity card and a driving licence under the name Abu Backer Mohamed Ali.

The defendant decided not to hand over the items to the relevant authorities and decided to keep it for his own use.

On the same day, the owner of the documents, Abu Backer, discovered that his personal documents were missing and decided to lodge a police report.

Police investigation led to Hj Abd Rahim’s arrest on August 7, 2008 when they found that the defendant had dishonestly misappropriated the properties belonging to Abu Backer.
