THE Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei Darussalam is organising a competition to give aspiring young engineers and technologists the opportunity to enhance their presentation skills to deliver complex technical information to the audience.

The contest, “Present Around the World (PATW) 2015” local network competition, will be held at the Institut Teknologi Brunei’s (ITB) Lecture Theatre on May 23.

PATW is a competition where individual competitors give a 10-minute presentation on engineering- and/or technology-related subject of their choice, in front of an audience and a panel of judges, followed by a five-minute question and answer session.

A press statement by IET said the emphasis is more on presentation skills rather than technical content, enabling competitors at varying levels of their studies or career to participate in on an equal footing.

The competition takes place throughout the world and starts at IET Local Network (LN) level.

The winner of an LN competition will receive an automatic place in the regional competition.

PATW is an annual event for the IET, and IET Brunei Darussalam will be hosting the local heat PATW 2015 competition to begin with.

In the local network competition, the winner will win $300, the statement said.

The competition has no entry fee. Applicants must be aged between 18 and 26 years old. They can be engineering or technology students, recent graduates, apprentices and young professionals.

Registration must not be later than May 16.

The winner will be invited to join the Asia Pacific Regional PATW Competition 2015, which will be hosted by IET Beijing in Beijing, China, with all travel and accommodation expenses being paid for.

For more information, registration and enquiries, the public can email IETBrunei.patw@gmail.com.
