Police check workers’ quarters
THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) joined forces with Belait district enforcement agencies on Thursday night to conduct simultaneous operations across the district as part of continuous crime prevention measures.
In Kuala Belait, 24 police personnel, along with 11 officers from the Immigration Department and three officers from the Customs Department conducted patrols and searches on four foreign worker quarters in Mumong. They were led by Assistant District Commanding Officer (Belait) Supt Ariffin Hj Jafaruddin, who is also the investigative crime officer for Belait district.
While no arrests were made, special passes were issued to three male foreign workers by the Immigration Department's Enforcement Division to assist with further investigations.
A separate operation on the same night took place in Kg Lumut I. Led by Officer-in-Charge of Sg Liang Police Station Chief Inspector Burhan Abang, it involved four members of the Kg Lumut I neighbourhood watch, 19 police personnel from the Sg Liang Police Station and members of Brunei LNG's Oilfield Police Security Officers.
Also participating was Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Hj Mohd Shafiee Ahmad, also village head of Kg Lumut I.
Together, they patrolled the village area in vehicles and put up two roadblocks at Jln Kecil Kg Sg Bakong and Jln Pantai Lumut, conducting stop-and-search activities on suspicious vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
In Panaga, Seria Police Station personnel conducted similar operations with the Kg Panaga neighbourhood watch.
No arrests were made in Lumut and Panaga. The operations began at 10pm and ended at 1.30am.
