Traffic cops find contraband at end of car chase

THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has apprehended a foreign national for investigation of multiple charges after resisting arrest and a car chase.

In a statement issued by the RBPF, the 28-year old was stopped on suspicion of an expired road tax by Traffic Control and Investigation Department who were on motorcycle patrol.

However, while being escorted to the JSKLL headquarters, the foreign national who at the time was driving a Nissan Sunny, resisted arrest and further investigation by driving away into a prohibited area headed towards the Brunei International Airport.

The chase ended when the driver was involved in an accident while trespassing into the prohibited area.

As a result of the accident, the JSKLL personnel discovered contraband goods in the form of cigarettes.

The discovery of the goods is also under investigation.

The RBPF is reminding members of the public to obey the law and report any instances of law breaking to the police through their hotline at 993 or the nearest police station should they come across any suspicious activities.
