PARAMEDICS are working behind the scenes to ensure the royal wedding between His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Dk Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah Pg Hj Bolkiah runs smoothly.

Twenty-five medical personnel and 16 support staff were on duty at the Majlis Istiadat Menghantar dan Menerima Tanda Diraja or engagement ceremony yesterday to handle any emergencies and provide assistance to guests with mobility issues.

Head of Emergency and Medical Ambulance Services Hjh Nora Hj Mohd Yusof said four teams manned the four clinics situated at various locations within Istana Nurul Iman.

“The clinics except for one clinic that act as a health station, are fully equipped with medical equipment such as beds, defibrillators and oxygen tanks. We are equipped to handle acute emergencies,” she said in an interview.

Three teams were on standby at the banquet hall while another team was present to attend to any emergencies at the Baitur Rahmah hall.

Four ambulances were also on standby at the Istana grounds.

“Our staff at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital are also on standby throughout the royal wedding period, she said.

Hjh Nora said the clinics had only treated minor illnesses such as headaches and migraines thus far.

The clinics and medical personnel will be on site until April 15, the day of the closing of Istiadat Gendang Jaga-Jaga, or end of royal wedding celebrations.
