FIFTY-THREE participants joined the one-day sketching and cartoon workshop conducted by the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (Language and Literature Bureau) last Monday.
The workshop was held at the Language and Literature Bureau building on Jalan Elizabeth II in the capital.
One of the library facilitators, Mohammad Faiz Hj Morshidi, explained the workshop was divided into two groups: children between aged of six to 12 and teenagers below 21 years old. Mohammad Faiz said that the workshop was intended to teach the youth to be organised, independent and obedient to their parents and older people.
In addition, the workshop was aimed at making the youths’ school holiday more productive.
Moreover, Mohammad Faiz hoped that the workshop would benefit these young people and broaden their interest in the arts.
In an interview with one the participants, Hau Kee Chun from St Andrew’s said the activity was fun and he gained knowledge about the arts.
He said he was looking forward to have more programmes related to art in the next school holiday.
Meanwhile, Azlina Azlan of Masin Secondary school said she did not expect the steps she learned would be very useful, particularly human anatomy.
Often she said sketching could be quite daunting but the activity taught her quite well.
