10 locals busted after crackdown on gambling den

A MIDNIGHT raid early Tuesday by the police at a private residence broke up a gambling den, arresting ten local men.

In a statement from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), police raided the home at 12.43am after receiving a public tip-off. The men, aged between 20 to 50 years old, were arrested for suspicion of acts of gambling. Gambling paraphernalia and cash totaling $3,326 were seized at the scene and held to assist with investigations.

The men have been detained for further questioning. The operation involved 13 personnel from the Crime Investigation Department (CID), led by the Belait district police Supervising Detective Officer.

If found guilty, the men can be charged under Chapter 28 of the Common Gaming House Act.
