NEWLY reinstated flights by Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) to Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam have proved popular amongst Belait residents during the district’s 10th travel fair last weekend.

RB’s Country Manger Evelyn Ang told The Brunei Times yesterday that flights to the city, revived in October last year, were amongst the most sought after with tickets priced as low as $199 for a return fare.

"Many Bruneians are taking advantage of the promotional price, which we offer as part of our push to promote Vietnam as a destination with many attractions," she said.

Because of distance, Belait residents usually have to decide between flying from Miri or driving down to fly from Bandar, she said.

With more competitive rates and better customer service, many are choosing to fly with RB instead. “At every travel fair we organise in Belait, there is a slowly increasing number of residents here visiting, which is a very good sign,” she said.

The Country Manager added, “There is an element of comfort for Bruneians when travelling via RB, which is why Belait residents opt to fly with us, especially for long distance flights.”

London, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur also continue to rank as the other top destinations for Bruneians to travel to.

“London is especially popular during this time of year for many parents looking to visit their children in the UK for their graduation or summer holidays,” she said.

RB’s strategy for the fair was to offer “added value” for its customers; no charges for purchases with credit cards, lucky draws every three hours across both Saturday and Sunday and a “spin-the-wheel” promotion allowing customers to secure air miles, amongst others.

Anthony Tours, Century Travel, Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, Freme Travel Services, Southern Cross and Pan Bright Travel Services were the participating travel agents at the fair which was held at Pusat Insani in Seria.
