THE Public Service Commission (SPA) will no longer accept manual form submissions for government job applications as its online recruitment system begins operations today.

Jobseekers and civil servants who wish to apply for government vacancies must now access the SPA recruitment portal at or through its website at or e-Darussalam’s website at

In a press statement issued yesterday, SPA said government vacancies will be advertised on the recruitment portal beginning March 4 and that individuals intending to apply for any of the advertised posts must submit their applications through the portal.

Jobseekers were also urged to scan their photo identification images as well as all relevant documents – including education and professional certificates – into PDF format before uploading them to their ‘My Profile’ page on the portal.

All personal details on an applicant’s ‘My Profile’ page must be completed before submitting the application, the statement added.

A username and password will be required to access the recruitment portal which can be obtained by having a registered account with e-Darussalam. Instructions on how to register and activate an e-Darussalam account can also be found on SPA’s website.

In the statement, SPA said the new online portal aims to allow users to conveniently access its content anytime and anywhere on their computers or mobile devices.

Earlier this month, it was reported that more than 10,000 people had applied for an e-Darussalam account, in anticipation of the portal launch.

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, announced the new online recruitment system during the 21st Civil Service Day last November, saying that the system would help fix delays in recruiting and filling vacancies.
