HIGHER National Diploma students of the International Graduate Studies College organised a day of fun and activities for children from Pusat Ehsan yesterday.

The event was part of the institution’s personal development programme held every Thursday by HND students.

Speaking to The Brunei Times, the head of the programme, Vincy Xavier, said the objective of the event was to develop the students’ interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.

“The students usually raise funds, but this time, they’re too busy with their college assignments and exams. The college supports the students for this particular programme by sponsoring this event,” she said.

She added that the students had pooled many resources and thought of doing something for children of Pusat Ehsan.

“This is part of their common skills and life skills evaluation though it’s not stated in their transcripts. But we do inculcate that in them. The students enjoy doing various types of activities for this personal development programme,” said Xavier.

She said that among the activities that have been arranged weekly throughout the year by the students are recycling projects, health and fitness week, Brunei culture week and a toastmaster session.

At the event, children from Pusat Ehsan had the opportunity to take part in a sing-along, a mini game where they had to freeze when the music stopped, a colouring contest and several other activities prepared by HND students.

Present at the event was IGSC Chief Executive Officer and Principal Pg Hjh Fatimah Pg Setia Jaya Hj Abd Momin.

A welcoming speech was given by programme development coordinator Dr Eee Ah Meng, who is also a senior lecturer at the institution.
