NCDs campaign in Temburong
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
TAKING responsibility of the choices that can affect one’s personal health was the take home message of the Temburong leg of the National Campaign to Eradicate Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) yesterday.
Dr Hj Norzaidi Hj Md Sani, co-chair of the forum at Temburong Community Hall, said cultivating a proper environment is the key affecting food consumption habits and physical activity levels – both of which have been proven to reduce the incidence of NCDs.
Dr Hj Norzaidi said on an individual level, people need to make conscious choices to improve their health, avoid tobacco products, control calorie intake and stress levels as well as maintain physical activity being the most fundamental decisions that all people should take.
Temburong residents were briefed about these choices through four panels, moderated by Dr Hjh Wadi Hana Hj Sudin and led by health professionals in nutrition, physiotherapy and pharmacy.
The Deputy Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Hj Yusoff Hj Ismail attended the Temburong forum yesterday as guest of honour.
