Lambak health centre on track for Aug completion

THE Lambak Kanan Health Centre is on schedule for completion by August this year, while the construction period for the National Health and Medical Store has been pushed back by a month.

The announcement comes after the Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof inspected the progress of both sites yesterday.

The $8.7 million National Health and Medical Store, located behind the Pharmaceutical Services Department building in Kg Madaras is now estimated to be completed by January 2016, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed.

First announced in December 2013, the store which covers 10,029 sq metres will store pharmaceutical drugs and medical sundries, equipped with specialised equipment to ensure the durability and quality of valuable and sensitive drugs.

Meanwhile, the $14 million, three-storey Lambak Kanan Health Centre - which will cater to residents from Sg Hanching, Kg Salambigar, Kg Sg Tilong, Kg Manggis and Lambak Kanan National Housing Scheme, Mukim Berakas B - will house a public clinic, chronic disease clinic and a flu clinic.

It will also offer mother and children health services, dental services and pharmaceutical services.

Both projects are under the 10th National Development Plan, designed to offer better primary care for Bruneians.

Also present during the visits yesterday were Permanent Secretary of Health Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila Dato Paduka Hj Abd Jalil and other Ministry of Health senior officials.
