Education minister visits Belait primary schools

THE Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong made a working visit to two primary schools in the Belait District yesterday.

The purpose of the visit was to give the minister a closer look at the implementation of the strengthening of education at schools, especially for Year Six students.

A press statement from the Minister of Education yesterday said the minister stopped by two schools in Cluster 6 – the Panaga Primary School in Seria and the Ahmad Tajuddin Primary School in Kuala Belait.

The minister’s first stop was the Panaga Primary School where he was welcomed by School Principal Hjh Nor Zurina Hj Assim and the head of Cluster 6, Nur Asyura Hj Meludin.

Hjh Nor Zurina briefed the visiting entourage on the school’s profile before touching on the various programmes and activities conducted by the school.

A question and answer session on the impacts of the school’s programme and activities was also held during the visit.

The school currently caters to 417 students – 58 of which are Year Six students – along with 35 educators.

The minister and the entourage also observed the teaching and learning process of Year Six classes.

Among the matters that were of the minister’s interest were the different programmes and activities carried out by the school to assist students’ learning and the various challenges faced by the school.

The minister was welcomed by School Principal Maisalamah Hj Tuah, along with the head of Cluster 6, during his stop at the Ahmad Tajuddin Primary School.

The Ahmad Tajuddin Primary School has 212 students – 37 in Year Six – and 30 educators.
