A SMALL retail store in Seria town has been shut down after rat and cat faeces were found on store shelves during an inspection.

The Enforcement Section of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board who effected the closure earlier this month also reported tinned food that was out of stock, sale of faulty items and dust over the majority of items stocked.

The store's employee who was keeping a cat in the store, had also not undergone a medical check up.

The Enforcement Section in a press release said the store would be temporarily closed until it was clean.

They also reminded owners of stores and eateries to take cleanliness seriously for the health of the public.
